Music at Saint Ann's

Drop, drop slow tearsOrlando Gibbons

Each member of the choir submitted a recording of themselves singing their part remotely.  Our Director of Music, Hector Migliacci, edited together the voices to come up with a unified choir sound!  We are pleased the choir was able to make a joyful noise - from a distance!

Drawing on centuries of Anglican and Episcopal musical traditions, along with over a thousand years of sacred music from around the globe, we have programs that enable singers and instrumentalists of all abilities to contribute to the worship and liturgy of the Episcopal Church in Lyme/Old Lyme.

There are many ways to participate in the musical life of the Parish.

Parish Choir

This is the most visible and regular way to participate. Membership is open to anyone; parish membership is not a requirement. Section leaders, guest vocalists, and musicians come from within Lyme/Old Lyme and from as far as Yale University, New York City, and Maine.

The choir sings each Sunday at the 10:30am service. They rehearse on Thursday evenings at 8:30pm and on Sunday mornings from 9:30 to 10:15am.

The Choir also offers Choral Evensong four times a year. Read more about Evensong here. Listen to a few minutes of our last Evensong service:

Potential members should have prior singing experience, and the ability to read music is always helpful. Contact our Director of Music at music@saintannsoldlyme.org for more information.

Summer Musicians

During the summer, our parish choir is on holiday. We enlist the aid of soloists to enhance our worship from June through August. Please contact our Director of Music at music@saintannsoldlyme.org if you're interested in supporting this ministry.

Hector B. Migliacci, our Director of Music, is a native of Cornwall, CT, and began his service in church music as a fourth grader, playing piano at the Sunday evening church services of his childhood church in Litchfield, CT. While in high school, he became the organist at the Lakeville United Methodist Church and studied piano and organ with Annette Hunt at the Hotchkiss School.

At the Virginia Military Institute, where Hector earned a B.S. in Biology, he was the Cadet Chapel Organist and Glee Club accompanist. He continued studying organ and piano with Timothy Gaylord at Washington & Lee University, and with Marjorie Mitchell in Charlottesville, VA. From 1998 to 2010, Hector was the Director of Music at St. Michael’s Church in Greenwich, CT, where he worked to develop the music ministry, growing the adult choir and adding cherub, chorister and teen choirs to the program. From 2010 to 2013, he was the organist at St. Benedict Church in Bronx, NY; and from 2013 to 2018, he was the organist at Church of the Resurrection in Rye, NY.

Hector is an active resident member of the St. Wilfrid Club for Organists in Manhattan, and a member of the New York City, New Haven, and New London Chapters of the American Guild of Organists.  He sings tenor with The Anglican Singers, and is a member of the Old Lyme Town Band, studying trumpet with Joel Baroody.  Hector is a Senior Agency Producer at Avrett Free Ginsberg, one of Interpublic Group’s advertising agencies in New York City; and he resides in Old Lyme with his family.
